The Advanced Materials Technology Association of the Republic of China was officially established in March 1991. Its members come from various sectors, including aerospace, optoelectronics, automotive, defense, construction materials, biomedical materials, and sports and leisure equipment. A board of directors and supervisors, consisting of experts from industry, government, academia, and research, is elected to represent the association.

The association is a leading organization for advanced materials and processes in Taiwan and is also a branch of SAMPE (The Society for the Advancement of Material and Process Engineering). SAMPE was founded in 1944 and is headquartered in Covina, California, USA. Its branches are spread across the globe, including in the United States, Canada, Europe, Australia, Japan, Taiwan, Beijing, and Shanghai. SAMPE has over 15,000 members, including professionals from sectors such as aerospace, aviation, automotive, pharmaceuticals, defense, manufacturing, and sports and leisure equipment.
